Unexpected events, such as natural disasters (hurricanes, wildfires, severe weather, etc.), national emergencies (public health crises), serious illnesses (including COVID), or overseas conflicts, can sometimes impact the processing of your application, petition, or immigration request with Gateway Assisted Services.
Gateway Assisted Services has the discretion to implement the following measures on a case-by-case basis upon request if you have been affected by an unforeseen event.
You can seek assistance by calling the Gateway Assisted Services Contact Center at 240-428-4540.
When seeking help, please clarify how the unforeseen event (whether domestic or international) has necessitated the relief you are requesting. For instance, if you have lost all documentation of your status or employment authorization, include an explanation in your description along with a copy of a police report, insurance claim, or other relevant documentation, if available, to support your request.
In the U.S., Gateway Assisted Services will apply flexibilities as appropriate to individuals affected by natural disasters who reside in areas designated by FEMA as disaster zones for public assistance. When requesting assistance, please provide evidence of your residence in one of the affected counties, along with an explanation of how the disaster has created a need for the requested relief. Gateway Assisted Services may also extend such flexibilities to individuals impacted by emergent situations, regardless of any FEMA designation.
